The price of lessons differs across the country with prices starting from £40 per hour.
1. Online Application
Go to the official UK Government website: Apply for a provisional driving licence.
You’ll need:
An identity document (e.g., passport).
Addresses where you’ve lived for the last 3 years.
Your National Insurance number (if you have one).
A debit or credit card to pay the £34 application fee.
Processing Time: Your provisional licence should arrive within 1 week if you apply online.
2. Apply by Post
Complete a D1 application form (available from most Post Offices or the DVLA ordering service).
Include:
Original documents confirming your identity (e.g., passport, birth certificate).
A passport-style photograph.
A cheque or postal order for £43 payable to the DVLA.

After You Receive Your Provisional Licence
Start Driving Lessons:
You can take lessons with a qualified instructor or practice with a suitable supervisor.

You must pass the theory test before taking the practical driving test.
